A year abroad…

Class List

So, to clear stuff up, and to ensure people I’m not just taking one class here is my class list:

Spanish
Deustch als Fremdsprache – Either A2 intensive (HOPE) or A2.2 which I’ll need to work really hard for
Entwicklungsgenetik fuer Pflanzen (Genetic Development of Plants)
Entwicklungsgenetik fuer Tiere (Genetic Development of Animals) – really fascinating (although a little [...]

Spanisch!

oder Espanol oder Spanish.
I just felt like sharing with the world (or like… the five people that read this blog) that I had my first real successful class in Germany and it was… Spanish.  It is quite interesting to learn a foreign language in another foreign language but I’m settling for A1 so it’s all [...]

Classes

…haven’t really started for me.  I had a seminar Monday that lasted all of twenty minutes and consisted of the teacher asking if we were all okay with our classes and if we needed help figuring what classes to take.  Then she handed out papers and explained that we are to do a twenty minute [...]

Snow

Today was the first snow of the year.  Not that exciting.  Kind of depressing really.  I mean, come on, it’s OCTOBER!  Oh well.  Didn’t stop me from meandering into Munich, took the long way to the University and then went to the Bibliothek (library) tour.  That was nice, I ended up meeting a bunch of [...]

Outings

Yesterday was the Foreign Student Orientation Meeting.. or something like that which translated into some long German word.  I learned… nothing really.  But did meet people from Greece, Turkey, France and Nepal.  Very cool.  Very fun.  I also decided that I’ll be taking Spanish, whenever I get my darn password from the tech department.  So [...]

Adventures in a German University (Part 1 of many)

Today I had a nine a.m appointment with Prof. Dr. Gerstmeier who works in the Biology office with foreign students.  I think.  This required me checking out the MVV website last night and figuring out how the hell one gets from where I live to Freising, and then to my school.  This, I found out [...]

1st Weekend

ist fertig.  Triste.  (Traurig)
Today was a lovely day.  Woke up late to a once again yummy breakfast.  Then our guests left, (sad) they were really nice.  They told me if I wanted a tour of where they were from I could come visit any time.
Then my host mom and I went on a [...]

First Days in Munich

Last night my host parents had people over for the weekend and we had an amazing dinner.  Everyone should be proud of me.  It was potatoes (course, it’s german), sweet peas and bacon, and then ostrich with a yummy sauce.  Super delicious. Oh yeah, during the day, I took my first train ride into Munich.  [...]

München!

So last night was pretty much a disaster but I’m here in Munich and it’s quite lovely.  So far everything is amazing, although I haven’t really spent any time with my host parents.
Yesterday we took the early train in to Munich, which sounded great but I barely slept.  And when I’m nervous I get sick, so [...]
